The church was locked.
Apart from the tower (probably Saxon, although the top is 18th century) and porch, the majority of the church is a Victorian rebuild, the church having become very dilapidated by the early 19th century. The architect for the nave was John Johnson of Bury.

On our way out of the village, we spotted a group of geese, idly drinking water from a pond on the road. How could I resist a picture?
