The present building replaced an earlier building constructed of tin, which had been donated by the Vicar of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Dyke Road, Brighton, and Mrs Gerald Moor - presumably on completion of that church.
The following picture is from "Portslade (Britain in Old Photographs) by Judy Middleton, published by Sutton Publishing Ltd, ISBN 0-7509-1460-2.

A recent email correspondent has suggested that before becoming a church, this building stood at Shoreham airport and served as a kitchen for troops based there during the First World War. If anyone can confirm this information I would be grateful.
