Taken in the late afternoon sun, the warm stones of this lovely village church look quite wonderful; and we received a wonderful warm welcome from Mrs Spriggs, the wife of the late Rev. Harold Spriggs, who was rector of this parish for many years (and a name I am very familiar with from the Netherfield registers!). We also met the verger who used to live in the village, Chiddingstone, where I went to school - it is a very small world!

There are the church banner and the font, apparently one of the largest in the county!

On each side of the chancel arch is a squint. These allow people to observe the activities in the chancel; this is the one on the north side of the arch.

Here is the east window.

This small window is in the chancel, the inscription on a plaque beneath it reads: "To the greater glory of God and in loving memory of John David MacBride Crofts, Priest M.A. Oxon., who, as Vicar of Mountfield 1880-1897 worshipped near this spot. † June 27th 1907"

This is my favourite window in the church, situated in the north wall adjacent to the chancel arch.

Two more windows from the church. The first depicts the presentation of Christ at the temple, and the second, has a theme of chairty. Under the second is an plaque which reads "To the glory of God in loving memory of Harriet Mary Crofts, Sister of St John's Clewer, kind superior of the House of Charity, London, who entered into rest November 16th 1883, she hath done what she could. St Mark XIV:8".

Here are two views of the nave, one looking west to the organ on its gallery, the second looking east to into the chancel.

With the sun lower in the sky, I took this picture from the east as we left on the 7th February.
