In 1906 the Cokelers built this chapel in Payne Avenue. Prior to conversion to a residence the building was in red brick with rendered dressings. The Cokelers were a group who followed Thomas Coke (1747 - 1814) who took holy orders from the Church of England in 1777 but who openly allied himself to the Methodists. He was president of the Irish Conference in 1782 and was ordained as Superintendent for America by John Wesley in 1784, and visited America nine times. He died in Ceylon on his way to perform missionary work in India.

The chapel was also known as the Christian Meeting Room and closed in 1978.
